Hello! I’m Sal, self employed and in my 50s, and the founder of the Local Noticeboard network which I’ve been running for over ten years. Alongside my work, animals have always been a central part of my life.

I grew up surrounded by animals – dogs, cats, budgies, chickens, donkeys, rabbits, goats and many others – and I’ve always had a natural affinity with them and a deep compassion for their wellbeing. I care not just about animals being looked after, but about their experience of life, their comfort, routines and sense of security. Because of this, I care for other people’s pets with the same level of devotion and attentiveness I’ve always given to my own.

Our last two dogs, Frankie and Daphne, lived long and happy lives and were very much part of our family. In their later years they both needed extra care, and when they became old and infirm I was able to give them constant support, allowing them as much dignity as possible as older ladies living with all their ailments. Daphne needed to be carried out to the garden frequently for the final year of her life, and caring for her became a full-time commitment. That experience further shaped how I care for animals and gave me a deep understanding of the patience, gentleness and consistency older or less able pets need.

As a business owner who works from home, my dogs were able to be by my side much of the time – a mutually ideal scenario – and enjoyed plenty of interesting walks, adventures and good food throughout their lives. Now that we no longer have a dog of our own, my husband and I have more flexibility to travel, and I’m also able to offer house and pet sitting for others who would like their animals cared for in their own familiar surroundings. While I’m looking after your pets, you can fully focus on your holiday, work trip or time away, knowing they’re happy, settled and being treated as a VIP. Very Important Pet.
