You are not a rubbish dog trainer

Despite what you may sometimes think, you are doing an amazing job.

Stop comparing yourself to others.

Stop putting yourself down.

You see we are all at different points in our journey, some of you may have just started, some may have years of experience.

But whatever point you are at, you never stop learning.

You need to remember we are all individuals. By comparing yourself to others this does little but highlight our weaknesses.

Now don’t get me wrong it’s important to understand what aspects of our job we excell in and perhaps areas we need to build on, but I would rather you focus more on your strengths.

Dog training is such a massive subject – you may find yourself enjoying certain areas more than others, maybe you gravitate towards game based training, or are a dab hand with the clicker.

Explore these strengths.

Think what do you want to be known for?

Really focus on these niche areas then you will become the expert in this area. In fact you probably already are. You just can’t see it just yet.

Finding your niche not only gives you the confidence to push forward but it makes you stand out from the competition.

The best thing I ever did was find my niche. I’m confident, happy and have really enjoyed putting all my focus into building up my skillset over the years.

Imagine that – a big smile on your face as you walk to a new client’s door. Knowing that you are going to change their life – for the better.

You are already changing lives. That’s powerful stuff!

You may not think it now but you are making big waves. You are pushing forward, continuing to adapt and build upon your existing skills.

So stop saying “I can’t” and change to “I can” and remember if something makes you feel uncomfortable or you feel perhaps it’s not your area you can refer on.

You have not failed.

The thing I love most about my job is helping to empower others.

Letting them take the lead.

It’s great to see happy dog owners and happy dogs but it also fills me with joy when I see dog trainers doing what they do best. I meet so many passionate dog trainers, so much talent.

But many don’t always see what I see…

That’s because they are often hard on themselves, worried, lack self confidence.

But I’m here to change that.

I have a good eye for recognising your strengths – those I coach are going far places!

You are also going far places. I believe in YOU.
