Based in East Grinstead, West Sussex, Walkies with Ruth has been offering pet services since 2015. Ruth started the business by offering dog walking, hence the name, and worked part time in a dog day care in Haywards Heath. Over the past 5 years she has included services such as house and pet sitting and pet taxi. At the start of 2020, Ruth made the decision to leave the dog walking behind and turn her attention to the training and behaviour side of the industry. She has a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare from the University of the West of England (Hartpury College), and continues to expand her knowledge and keep up with recent research. She has attended courses and seminars in person and online:

  • Dog First Aid Sussex – Canine first aid
  • The School of Canine Science – Puppy Lab
  • Absolute Dogs – Training Academy, 25-day ‘Sexier than a Squirrel’ Challenge, and 14-day ‘Dream to Reality’ Pro Dog Trainer Challenge
  • Dog Training Academy – Canine Body Language, Reactive Rascals
  • Craig Ogilvie – Communication, Arousal and Problematic Behaviours seminar
  • Sarah Whitehead – Canine Sex, Hormones and Neutering, and Trainers and Behaviourists COVID-19 certificate

Ruth is now offering 1:1 dog training, following COVID-19 secure guidelines, and is working alongside another trainer, Tracey Charters to build a reputable and fun way to train dogs and their owners.

From 2020, Walkies with Ruth will also be able to offer home boarding and home day care after awarded a licence from Mid Sussex District council (licence number AW070).
